Edna Kanabahita

Edna worked as an Executive Manager at DFCU Bank where she was responsible for the overall development, retention and management of the Bank's Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Corporate & Institutions business relationships. She performed tasks like Customer Relationship Management (CRM), deposit mobilization, portfolio management and proper resource allocation to obtain optimal results for DFCU Bank. While with the bank, Edna was also at the forefront of negotiating, monitoring and setting up lines of credit from various sources of funds, improving portfolio profitability by using a risk adjusted pricing model on a wide range of credit products, and approving and booking good quality assets to the bank's portfolio.

She later took on the role of Regional Risk Project Manager at Accion, Accra, Ghana. While in this role, she delivered and managed the risk management technical assistance services to Accion Micro-finance partners in the Africa Region. Some of the tasks she carried out included conducting risk awareness training programs funded by J.P Morgan to Accion Micro-finance Bank in Nigeria, Akiba Commercial Bank in Tanzania and other Micro-finance Institutions in Nigeria.

She went on to become an Executive Director at Novefund Limited, an organization that she co-founded. In this role, Edna was in charge of mentoring, training and mobilizing funds for a team of creative young Ugandans who are passionate about using fintech to make an impact.

Edna is currently a Chief Risk Office at Barclays Uganda in charge of the East Africa region. The role entails leading and managing the risk management team, providing business support and recoveries to safeguard acceptable levels of credit losses, supporting business and products development strategies, and ensuring proper reconciliation and accuracy of the impairment figures among others. She is also a board member and Trustee of Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU).

Amongst Edna’s diverse skills are investment banking, valuation, capital markets, due diligence, financial modelling, and corporate finance.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Economics from Makerere University, a Master of Business Administration from University of Edinburgh Business School, and an ACCA Diploma in Financial Management. She is also a Project Management Professional (PMP).
